Weird play in the ninth inning in St. Louis …

↵With score 2-2 and runners on first and second, Astros rookie Jose Altuve singled up the middle. Runner from second scored easily, and center fielder Jon Jay’s throw home -- clumsily redirected by Albert Pujols -- caromed off on-deck hitter Jason Bourgeois, allowing another runner to score.

↵Seems to me the ball should have been dead upon striking Bourgeois, but umps let play stand. I think Tony La Russa might actually have grounds for official protest.
