The Kansas City Chiefs and free agent wide receiver Steve Breaston have reached an agreement on a five-year contract, according to Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter. While the total amount of money in the contract is not yet known, it will reportedly have $9.5 million in guarantees.
Steve Breaston Will Join Kansas City Chiefs, According To Report
Breaston will reunite with his former Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator in Kansas City, head coach Todd Haley. Breaston enjoyed his best season as a receiver in 2008, Haley's last season with the Cardinals. Breaston caught 77 passes for 1006 yards and three touchdowns. Breaston's right knee injury history, though, has limited him throughout his career.
Breaston will now work with Dwayne Bowe and rookie Jonathan Baldwin, though he will likely compete for playing time with Baldwin for playing time. Breaston has the speed to stretch the field and come up with the big reception.
