For a former undrafted free agent, DE Stephen Bowen is getting a nice contract. According to reports, the Washington Redskins have agreed to terms with Bowen. Per the report, it's a five-year deal worth $27.5 million and $12.5 million guaranteed.
Washington Redskins Reach Five-Year Deal With DE Stephen Bowen
Not bad for a guy who the Cowboys picked up off the street in 2006. He stays in the NFC East and moves to the Cowboys which should make the division rivalry a little more fun.
He became a frequent contributor for the Cowboys in 2008 which continued through the 2010 season. He ended last year with 22 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Bowen's arrival in Washington makes you wonder if the Redskins are still thinking about DE Cullen Jenkins. Via SB Nation DC:
Bowen is not the player Jenkins is. He has only started 11 games in his career, nine of which came last season. For his career, he has 5.5 sacks in five seasons. There’s a chance he could start at one end opposite Adam Carriker, or he could push Carriker and newcomer Barry Cofield for playing time.
