Vernon Gholston will attempt to revive his career with the Chicago Bears after failing to make any noise with the New York Jets, According to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post, Chicago signed the free agent defensive lineman on Friday.
Vernon Gholston Signs With Chicago Bears, According To Report
Gholston was the No. 6 overall pick out of Ohio State in the 2008 NFL Draft, but he never made an impact in his time with the Jets. He had 16 total tackles and zero sacks, a far cry from the expected production of a high draft pick. He has been miscast over the last two years in Rex Ryan’s 3-4 defensive scheme.
But he will now play in Rod Marinelli's 4-3 scheme, which could provide him an opportunity to make up for his stalled career in New York. Playing with Julius Peppers isn't a bad move, either.
