Roman Harper Gets $28.5 Million From New Orleans Saints, According To Report

The New Orleans Saints had a whopping 29 free agents entering the 2011 NFL free agency period but re-signed an important one. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, S Roman Harper re-signed with the Saints for a four-year deal. Per the report, it's worth a total of $28.5 million including $16 million guaranteed.

Harper’s been with the Saints they made him their second round draft choice in 2006. Harper was one of those fifth year guys whose status went from unrestricted to restricted free agent with the 2010 uncapped year. So he was looking for a big-money deal last year but had to wait until now when he hit free agency.

Harper’s had a solid career with the Saints but it wasn’t always that way. He suffered a season ending knee injury early in his rookie year but ended up coming back -- and not missing a game since -- to help the Saints ultimately win a Super Bowl.

The Saints have some work left to do in free agency but they don’t have to worry about the safety spot anymore.
