Carlos Gonzalez Injury: Rockies Outfielder Leaves Sunday’s Game With Wrist Injury

Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez left the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals with an apparent right wrist injury. He was taken to a local Denver hospital for precautionary x-rays on the wrist.

Royals catcher Brayan Pena drove a ball to deep center field to start the seventh and Gonzalez was able to track down the ball, but not without hitting into the outfield wall. He wound up bouncing off the wall and hurt his right wrist in the process.

Gonzalez was having a career game offensively before the injury, driving in a single-game best six runs. He had a three-run double in the fifth inning and then followed that with a three-run home run (his 13th on the year) in the sixth inning. However, the Royals led, 12-8, at that point, and Colorado allowed four more runs after the injury.

If this injury proves to be serious, the Rockies' offense will need to look toward All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to carry more of the burden in the batter's box.
