Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun will not be in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The newly named All-Star starter had already missed Sunday's game after straining his calf on Saturday.
Ryan Braun Injury: Brewers Outfielder Won’t Start Monday’s Game
Braun is in the midst of another stellar season. Through Saturday’s game, he is hitting .320 with 16 homers, 62 RBIs and 19 steals. At his current pace, Braun could set career highs in all those categories. He is also riding a 22-game hitting streak.
The Brewers are currently tied with the St. Louis Cardinals for the lead in the National League Central at 45-40. After starting relatively strong in Interleague play, the Brewers have now lost 5 of 6 and are 6-9 against the American League. In fact, Braun's final at-bat resulted in the Brewers' only win in their recently concluded road series against the Minnesota Twins.
Braun was essentially replaced in the lineup by Corey Hart, who batted third and played right field. He went 2-for-4 on Sunday. Mark Kotsay moved to left field.
