Uber-prospect Bryce Harper, who won't turn 19 until October, has been promoted by the Washington Nationals to Double-A Harrisburg, tweets Bill Ladson of MLB.com:
Bryce Harper Promoted To Double-A By Nationals
I just learned that #Nats OF Bryce Harper has been promoted to Double A Harrisburg. I’ll have more on MLB.com.Harper began his professional career this year in Low-A Hagerstown and dominated the league, hitting .318/.423/.577 in 305 plate appearances over 72 games. He hit 14 home runs and had 46 RBI there.
According to SB Nation DC, Harper was originally supposed to play at every level of the Nationals’ system, but now he is apparently going to skip High-A, going directly to the Eastern League at Harrisburg. It’s entirely possible that he might move up another level later this year and even make his major league debut before his 19th birthday.
