Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who left Monday’s game against the Atlanta Braves with a quad injury, won’t be in the Colorado lineup Tuesday night, according to Hardball Talk. However:
Troy Tulowitzki Injury: ‘Not Serious’, According To Rockies Shortstop
… the shortstop told Troy Renck of the Denver Post that his quadriceps injury “is not serious.”
Instead he’s merely “a little sore” and “have learned the hard way I can’t rush it.” However, according to Renck he’s likely to miss “the next few games.”
Tulowitzki had a similar quad injury three years ago and missed almost one-third of the season, so there’s good reason to be cautious this time. With less than a week until the All-Star break, it appears that he’ll avoid the disabled list if he rests it for just a few games.
It’s also uncertain whether Tulowitzki will be able to play in the All-Star Game itself due to the injury. Jonathan Herrera, who has been playing second base for the Rockies, will start at shortstop Tuesday, with newly-acquired Mark Ellis penciled in at second base.
