Liverpool had been chasing Blackpool captain Charlie Adam's signature for months now, being linked heavily to him in the January transfer window, and now they finally have their man. According to a press release on their website, the two teams have reached an agreement - believed to be worth around £7M - and the player is now in Liverpool to negotiate personal terms and complete a medical.
Liverpool Seal Charlie Adam Switch
Adam, 25, joins fellow newcomer Jordan Henderson in an already-crowded Liverpool midfield. This move could pave the way for the rumoured departure of the influential Raul Meireles, and unless another move is made it's difficult to see Adam being a regular starter at Anfield. He brings world-class ability in set pieces and can pull off flamboyant long-range passes, but the big picture tells a story of a midfielder who's decidedly inferior to the likes of Lucas Leiva and Meireles. It'll be interesting to see how Adam handles the move from a relegated club built around him to a team seriously chasing for top-four honours.
