The 2011 John Deere Classic gets underway on Thursday, and for Louis Oosthuizen this will be a chance to get loose for the 2011 British Open next week when he defends the Claret Jug. But he’ll face stiff competition this weekend with Steve Stricker a heavy favorite. Stricker has won the last two tournaments here, including an impressive 26-under in last year’s victory.
2011 John Deere Classic Field, Tee Times, TV Schedule And More
For the first two rounds, Stricker will be in a strong group that includes David Toms and Mark Wilson. Here are some notable pairings and tee times to watch for on Thursday (complete tee times here):
8:30 a.m. ET - Steve Stricker, David Toms, Mark Wilson
1:55 p.m. ET - Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Day, Stewart Cink
2:05 p.m. ET - Todd Hamilton, John Daly, David Duval
Cink, Daly, Duval, Hamilton are, like Oosthuizen, previous winners of the British Open. Will any of that experience help them emerge victorious on Sunday afternoon?
First round coverage of the John Deere Classic begins on the Golf Channel at 3 p.m. ET, but Sirius XM radio listeners can pick things up at 12 p.m. ET. Both end the day at 6 p.m. ET.
