That’s an unusual headline for a no-hitter in progress; usually the name of the pitcher would be prominently mentioned.
San Diego Padres Have No-Hitter Vs. Dodgers Through Seven Innings
There's no pitcher named in the headline because if the Padres do complete their no-hitter over the Dodgers, it would be a combined effort. Starter Aaron Harang was lifted after six innings having thrown 95 pitches (62 strikes), because it is his first start off the disabled list and it was announced before the game that he'd be limited to around 90 pitches. Harang issued three walks and struck out six in his six innings.
Josh Spence came in to relieve Harang and struck out Andre Ethier to start the bottom of the seventh. Chad Qualls replaced Spence, and Matt Kemp reached base on a throwing error by Jason Bartlett, getting to second base. This prompted Bud Black to order an intentional walk to James Loney.
Qualls then retired Juan Uribe on a popup and got Dioner Navarro to hit a comebacker. The game has now gone to the top of the eighth, scoreless -- and the Padres have just one hit themselves. A new pitcher will come into the game in the bottom of the eighth, as the Padres have just pinch-hit for Qualls.
