Our top three candidates are Jered Weaver, Justin Verlander and CC Sabathia. Sunday afternoon, Weaver and Verlander faced off in Detroit. Weaver gave up three runs, was ejected for head-hunting, and probably will be suspended and miss his next turn in the rotation. Verlander took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Verlander's now 15-5 with a 2.24 ERA, Weaver 14-5 with a 1.88 ERA. Given Verlander's big lead in both innings and strikeouts, I think he's now passed Weaver as Cy Young frontrunner.

Sabathia (15-5, 2.56) can stake his claim tonight against the White Sox.
