I'm sure John Sickels will have more about him soon, but a quick note about Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, just called up from Class AA Mobile today.
D’backs Summon Big Bopper From Farm
↵Last season in the California League, Goldschmidt hit 35 home runs but struck out 161 times in 138 games, and Baseball America ranked him as just the 11th-best prospect in Arizona’s system last winter. Well, upon advancing a level this season, Goldschmidt leads the minor leagues with 30 homers, while upping his walks and cutting his strikeouts. It’s a big jump from the Southern League to the National League, but the long-shot D’backs might as well see if he’s ready.
