DT Ryan Sims Signs With Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks added defensive tackle Ryan Sims on Sunday, according to the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. This additional defensive tackle comes after the team re-signed Brandon Mebane on Friday, but this is a depth signing.

Sims was, once upon a time, the sixth overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft with a bright future ahead of him while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs. After playing just six games as a rookie, Sims had his best year in 2003 when he started all 16 games and sacked the quarterback three times. By 2007, Sims was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a reserve. Though he started all 16 games in 2009, Sims was cut after six games in 2010.

Sims was drafted into the UFL back in May, but he’ll give it a go with the Seahawks. Field Gulls, our Seahawks blog, doesn’t think this signing will have much of an impact.
