Antonio Cromartie Re-Signs With New York Jets, According To Report

The New York Jets missed out on Nnamdi Asomugha after the premier prize of the 2011 NFL free agency frenzy picked the Philadelphia Eagles. But the Jets turned to a familiar face to play opposite Darrelle Revis, signing Antonio Cromartie to a deal that will return him to the Big Apple, according to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Mehta reports that it's for four years and $32 million.

Cromartie came to New York after the Jets traded with the Chargers to add him to their secondary, and his athleticism helped cover for some flaws in technique in a decent season that included just three interceptions.

With Cromartie's return, the Jets' major moves this offseason would seem to be limited to securing standouts (Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, David Harris) and adding Plaxico Burress. Because of that stand-pat philosophy, the Jets may need their core to keep performing at a high level to keep up with the New England Patriots, who added Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth to an impressive youth movement.
