As recently as Monday morning, there were rumors that free agent WR Randy Moss would be joining this team or that team. Folks were talking about him as if he would continue playing in the NFL.
Randy Moss Retires After 13 Years In NFL
Apparently, that’s not the case. Moss announced his retirement late Monday morning through agent Joel Segal. Via ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
"After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he's decided to retire," said Randy Moss' agent, Joel Segal.
The easy answer to this is that he didn't have any offers to his liking. He was traded from the New England Patriots to the Minnesota Vikings last season and things went so poorly in Minnesota he only last a couple of weeks. From there, he signed with the Tennessee Titans where he did nothing of note.
If this truly is the end for Moss, it’s been one hell of a ride for him. He was the Vikings first round pick in the 1998 draft at 21st overall and made 20 teams pay for passing him up. He finishes his career with 954 receptions, 14,858 yards and 153 touchdowns.
