Chiefs Bring In Former Ravens OT Jared Gaither

Former Ravens OT Jared Gaither is coming to Kansas City as the Chiefs signed the 6’9” offensive tackle on Thursday.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been slowly adding pieces to their team as they try to defend their 2010 AFC West championship. The latest signing is a very interesting one -- OT Jared Gaither. He's coming from the Baltimore Ravens where he was a solid starter before the injury bug bit.

Gaither, who was the Ravens 2007 fifth round pick in the NFL supplemental draft, missed all of the 2010 season with a back injury. It's unclear where he stands health-wise but it is noteworthy that the Oakland Raiders had reportedly planned to sign him last week before shying away.

Gaither joins a Chiefs offensive line that saw major improvement last season. LT Branden Albert is likely locked in on the left side so Gaither may be slotted for the right side where he'll compete with OT Barry Richardson and OT Ryan O'Callaghan.

Gaither had been on the market for a couple of weeks so he probably didn’t get big money meaning, if he stays healthy, this will be a great pick-up for the Chiefs. However, that’s a big if.
