It's already a bad start for the Seattle Seahawks in their first preseason game against the San Diego Chargers. On the Seahawks first offensive series, starting LT Russell Okung suffered an ankle injury and was carted off the field. There's no word on how severe it is. He was replaced by Tyler Polumbus.
Seahawks Vs. Chargers: Russell Okung Suffers Injury, Carted Off Field
It’s worrisome that Okung’s ankle injuries cost him six games in his rookie campaign. The Seahawks selected him with the sixth pick so there are certainly some expectations on him. We’ll see how serious it is.
Okung has had recurring problems but this is the type of injury that teams wanted to avoid. There weren’t any OTAs or offseason programs because of the lockout so players have had about two weeks of training camp to prepare for the first preseason game. It’s hardly ideal.
SB Nation Seattle is covering Okung’s injury and stay tuned to Field Gulls for reactions to the injury.
