VIDEO: Bryce Harper Home Run Ends Big Day For Nationals’ Phenoms
Friday was a pretty good day for the Washington Nationals' two phenoms. First, Stephen Strasburg struck out five and allowed zero balls out of the infield in his second rehab start after Tommy John surgery. Then, Bryce Harper one-upped Strasburg by bashing this massive home run to deep center field to give Double-A Harrisburg a win.
The home run traveled over the big wall in deep center field, flying over 460 feet in the air. Harper’s performance in Double-A has been less thrilling than his performance in Single-A, but I think it’s safe to say that was the most eye-popping hit of his professional career.
Also, Harper’s celebration was pretty tame, unless you want to object to how high he threw his helmet in the air before his teammates mobbed him. Seriously, go ahead. It’s your right. Feel free to do your part to cling to this image of Harper as the bombastic kid who supposedly has no tact.
