Liverpool Vs. Sunderland - Gyan off, Ji on

Steve Bruce has made his first change of the day, with Ji Dong-Won coming on for Asamoah Gyan, who has picked up a knock. It’s an odd choice, as Sunderland are raining high-quality crosses into Liverpool’s box and Wickham would seem to be a much more sensible choice to get on the end of them. Ji is not exactly small, but let’s not beat about the bush – Wickham is a mutant.

Liverpool have faded badly in this half – they look to have exhausted themselves with their high-tempo and pressing in the first half, Sunderland are now very much in this game and looking dangerous. Worrying signs for the Reds – they need a change to regain control here. Meireles would seem to be a good choice to me – and Sunderland still have David Vaughan on the bench to counter. This one could go either way. Very open game at Anfield, and the scores are still level at 1-1.
