Saturday afternoon was even better for Verlander, as Jered Weaver gave up eight earned runs and lost.
↵When Weaver’s ERA began with a 1, as it has for a long time, he was a fantastic Cy Young candidate regardless of his wins and losses.
↵Now his ERA is 2.13 and his record will suffer by comparison with Verlander’s (and Sabathia’s).
