Just after making his first save for Manchester United, and a fine one at that, David de Gea is back under the microscope after allowing a soft goal that has this match level at one. Soft goal or not, West Brom will not complain as they have tied United 1-1 at the Hawthorns thanks to new signing Shane Long. The former Reading man cut in from the left and hit a decent, but no especially hard shot towards the far post. It was on the ground and the defender may have blocked de Gea's view a bit, but he reacted very slowly as the ball crept in the new for the equalizer.
West Brom Vs. Manchester United: Shane Long Equalizes For Baggies
There were concerns about de Gea coming into the season, especially after a shaky performance in the Community Shield. His tremendous play for Atletico Madrid had been ignored by most as they preferred to focus on his age, being just 20 years old. His poor play on Long’s goal will not help his case though as the Baggies have put this match back on level terms.
