Halfway through the Watkins Glen NASCAR race, Kyle Busch is back in the lead following a caution that changed the race strategy for many drivers.
Live NASCAR Watkins Glen Update: Kyle Busch Leads At Halfway Point
When Greg Biffle ran out of fuel, it benefited some drivers (such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton, who were on pit road at the time) and hurt others.
Marcos Ambrose has had the best car, but he recently gave up the race lead to make a green-flag pit stop. That gave the lead to Montoya, who is the defending winner of the race, but Montoya pitted as well.
Gordon then took over the lead, though pole-sitter Busch was right behind him and passed him under green. Brad Keselowski is now second.
Biffle’s stalled car resulted in the only caution of the day so far, but there have been some other incidents. One of those concerned contact between Mark Martin and David Reutimann, which left Reutimann with heavy rear damage.
AJ Allmendinger, who had lead early before getting booted by Kurt Busch, is only up to 14th.
