Ty Warren’s Injury Won’t Land Him On IR For Broncos

The injury suffered by Denver Broncos DE Ty Warren was deemed to be severe as a triceps tear, the injury he suffered, generally results in a player going on injured reserve and ending his season. Warren will have surgery on Tuesday, according to the Denver Post, and the recovery time is viewed as three to six months.

The Broncos will not place him on IR and gain that extra roster spot, the Denver Post reports. Instead, he’ll have surgery on Tuesday morning and, because it’s just a partial tear, they’re hoping his recovery time is closer to three months rather than six.

If it’s a three month recovery time, that would put Warren’s return around sometime in mid-to-late November with four or five games remaining on the Broncos 2011 regular season schedule. If they’re in the playoff hunt at that point, then Warren’s return could be critical.

That said, not many people are expecting the Broncos to be competitive into December this year so I’m not sure Warren’s return will be as critical as it seems. I can assure you, though, that my views on the Broncos not being competitive late into the season aren’t shared by all the readers of SB Nation’s Mile High Report.
