The Philadelphia Eagles were dominated by the first team Pittsburgh Steelers offense and defense on Thursday night in a 24-14 loss. The "Dream Team" certainly didn't look like a dream team as QB Michael Vick threw three interceptions and the Steelers offense moved up and down the field for two scores against the Eagles first team defense.
Eagles Vs. Steelers: Nothing Goes Right For Philly
In short, the Eagles played very poorly. Eagles’ Todd Herremens had perhaps the best description of Thursday night’s game:
"Obviously we weren't ready to play." Todd Herremans said after the game, "We went out there and they kicked our ass."
Obviously we know (or we think) the Eagles are a better team than this. As SB Nation’s Bleeding Green Nation points out, it’s just preseason.
But as we say after all these games, good or bad, it is only preseason. And frankly, we’ve seen this before. Tonight’s game was eerily reminiscent of the second preseason game last year when the Eagles went on the road against another AFC North team in Cincinnati. They got worked 22-9 and Vick looked awful throwing two picks in one quarter of play.
Things turned out OK for Vick last year so maybe it’s too early to worry.
