Rookie Jason Kipnis joined the Indians on July 22 and almost immediately began making an impact. He drove in a run in his second game, and he hit home runs in four consecutive games between July 31 and August 3. Over his first 75 trips to the plate, he's batted .279/.347/.603.
Jason Kipnis Injury: Indians Rookie On DL With Hamstring Strain

However, earlier this week, Kipnis was forced to the sidelines with an oblique injury. He returned to the lineup on Thursday, but then got scratched with hamstring tightness, and on Friday, the Indians have opted to place Kipnis on the disabled list.
Kipnis will now have some time to heal up, although the break comes at a lousy time for a team trying to hang in the AL Central race. The Indians have recalled Luis Valbuena to take Kipnis' place on the roster, but Valbuena's career OPS in the majors is .626. He and Jason Donald will probably split time at second base until Kipnis comes back.
