After being unceremoniously released by the Bears, Brad Maynard has landed in Houston to play for the Texans. The team's official Twitter account announced "Coach Kubiak says punter Brad Maynard soon will join the Texans."
Houston Texans Sign Brad Maynard, According To Gary Kubiak
Maynard brings a ridiculous amount of experience to the Texans, a 14-year veteran who's previously granted the services of his prodigious right foot to the Giants and, for the past 10 years, the Bears. He's never made a Pro Bowl, but he does have the somewhat dubious record of most punts in a Super Bowl with the Giants in their 34-7 loss to the Ravens in SB XXXV.
After that season, Maynard signed with the Bears as a free agent and has stuck there ever since. In his career he’s averaged 41.9 yards per punt and 32.6 percent of his punts have landed inside the 20. The 37-year-old has been remarkably consistent, and, perhaps most notably, had a speed score of 85 in NFL 2K3 for reasons that defy logic.
