Kouzmanoff Joining Rockies

Kevin Kouzmanoff will report to triple-A Colorado Springs for the time being. However, he could get time in the majors down the stretch to show whether or not he’s worth tendering a contract in the offseason. The 29-year-old third baseman struggled with the A’s a year ago and struggled even more in 2011, but he’s posted an .890 OPS with triple-A Sacramento this summer, so the Rockies might see if he can bounce back.
At his best, Kouzmanoff plays good defense and flashes legitimate home-run power. His OPS+ has dropped each year since 2007, so he’s not exactly trending positively, but it’s worth seeing what he can do in a hitter-friendly environment.
