This is what Sun Life Stadium looked like during Wednesday’s Marlins-Reds game. One fan counted exactly 347 fans.
‘I Went To The Florida Marlins Game!’ - Almost Nobody
A photo taken from another angle shows that very few of even the best seats were occupied. Now, the Marlins have trouble attracting fans to come see them play for several reasons. There’s speculation that the forthcoming Hurricane Irene may have been a factor, though that wasn’t and isn’t expect to hit Florida until early Friday morning.
Whatever the reason... 347 fans (a figure that is easy to believe, given these photos) is not very many fans. 347 people is:
- A major grocery store on a busy day
- Any bingo hall that is held in a building that used to be a grocery store
- 3% to 5% of the average attendance of an average Louisville Bats minor league game
- The approximate number of people who would have lived in the house I live in ever since it was built if each tenant signed a one-year lease (three apartments, average of six residents, house was built in 1874)
- Approximately 65% of the number of people who have been in space
- Approximately 65% of the size of the United States Congress
- Approximately 65% of all players to play in the NBA last year
- Approximately 20% of all players in the NFL
