Earlier on Thursday, we had a report that the Cleveland Indians were trying to get the band back together. They had reportedly claimed Jim Thome off waivers from the Minnesota Twins, and now it seems like things are getting serious. From Nick Camino of WTAM 1100:
Jim Thome To Indians Is “Being Finalized”
I’m told Jim Thome deal is being finalized and he will be in an #Indians uniform by tomorrow night.
Thome would be the DH for a nicked up Indians team that has fallen six games behind the Detroit Tigers before the start of play on Thursday. But depending on what the Indians have to give up, it's pretty much a win/win. Even if they don't climb back into the race, they'll get the warm fuzzies that Thome will bring with him from Minnesota. If they really want to go all out, there's a certain right-handed hitter with 555 career home runs who just might be available if they ask nicely ...
