7 p.m., SportSouth, SNY: Braves at Mets. Due to Hurricane Irene, this will be the only game of the original three-game series. The Saturday and Sunday games have already been postponed. Stay safe.

7 p.m., STO, FSN Kansas City: Royals at Indians. This game is only on the fringes of playoff importance, but worth watching for the reaction to the return of Jim Thome to Cleveland.

8 p.m., MLB Network, FSN West, KTXA: Angels at Rangers. How convenient. Nine days ago, the Angels were seven games behind the Rangers and being counted out of the postseason. Now, riding a six-game winning streak, the Halos invade Arlington only two games out. Some MLBN viewers will see Tigers/Twins.

10 p.m., FSN Houston, CSN Bay Area: Astros at Giants. It almost goes without saying, but the Giants not only should win this game, they really have to.
