When Colby Rasmus was sent from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Toronto Blue Jays in an eight-player deal involving the Chicago White Sox (don't ask!), it appeared that the 24-year-old outfielder was getting out of a situation that was oppressive for him -- Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa reportedly didn't care for Rasmus -- into one where he could thrive.

It hasn’t worked out that way. Rasmus is hitting just .216/.239/.398 in 92 plate appearances for Toronto and on Tuesday, he jammed his right wrist and today, according to Tony Ambrogio of Rogers Sportsnet, he’s headed to the disabled list:
Colby Rasmus to the DL tomorrow. #jaysThere’s no word on who will replace Rasmus on the active roster, and he’s likely to need the full 15 days to recover. Next Thursday, Sept. 1, rosters can expand so Rasmus could come back at any time without having to make a corresponding move.
The Blue Jays, two games over .500 at 66-64, open a three-game series with the Rays tonight in Toronto.
