Jeter Passes Mantle For Yankees Games-Played Mark, New York Splits Doubleheader With O’s
New York Yankees veteran Derek Jeter was in the lineup for a 2-0 setback in the first half of a day-night doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, giving him the franchise’s all-time games played record at 2,402.

Jeter, now in his 17th season, surpassed the legendary Mickey Mantle, who set the original mark of 2,401 from 1951-68. He didn't have a successful day at the plate despite setting the record, going 0-for-4 as the designated hitter.
It has been a season of milestones for the 37-year-old infielder. Jeter reached the 3,000-hit mark with a home run on July 9 at Yankee Stadium off Tampa Bay starter David Price.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Yankees won 8-3 to earn the split. Curtis Granderson homered twice to take over the major league lead with 38, rookie Ivan Nova won his 10th straight decision,.
