During his Friday broadcast, legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully announced he'd be returning for a 63rd season as the team's announcer next year.
Vin Scully Isn’t The Only Returning Dodgers Broadcaster
But Scully is not the only broadcaster who has been beloved by Los Angeles fans for decades. Jaime Jarrin, who has announced Dodgers games in Spanish since the team moved to Los Angeles in 1958, will return for a 54th season in 2012:
“The Dodgers have invited me back for another season, so you will have to be by my side again,” Jarrin told partner Fernando Valenzuela during Sunday’s Dodgers-Rockies game. ”I love what I do. It’s something I love and it brings me great joy to work alongside you and Pepe Yniguez.”
Jarrin’s Spanish-language broadcasts can also be heard on the SAP audio channel on Prime Ticket’s Dodgers telecasts. He received the Ford C. Frick award, which honors broadcasters for major contributions to the game of baseball from baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1998.
