The Los Angeles Galaxy are leading all of MLS and that alone does not tell the story of how good they have been. They having been beaten since May 1, a stretch of 14 matches. They've won eight of their last 12 and they've done this all with Landon Donovan, David Beckham and Donovan Ricketts all missing several matches each. With them going up against the expansion Portland Timbers, who can't even win at home anymore (winless in their last six at home), and it's tough to see the Timbers topping the Galaxy.
Portland Timbers Vs. LA Galaxy: Lineups
Both teams have almost first choice lineups for the midweek contest. Josh Saunders is in goal for the still injured Ricketts, while Michael Stephens gets another look in the midfield, but besides that it's all of LA's top players. The Timbers are without Jack Jewsbury, which is a gigantic absence, but besides that the only real surprise is the inclusion of Sal Zizzo in the starting XI.
Portland Timbers (4-4-2): Troy Perkins; Lovel Palmer, Eric Brunner, David Horst, Mike Chabala; Sal Zizzo, James Marcelin, Diego Chara, Darlington Nagbe; Jorge Perlaza, Kenny Cooper
LA Galaxy (4-4-2): Josh Saunders; Sean Franklin, A.J. DeLaGarza, Omar Gonzalez, Todd Dunivant; Chris Birchall, David Beckham, Juninho, Michael Stephens; Juan Pablo Angel, Landon Donovan
