Sporting Kansas City vs. Real Salt Lake: Full Time Sporting Kansas City Hang on for 2-0 Victory

Following two first half goals from Roger Espinoza and Teal Bunbury, Sporting Kansas City defeated Real Salt Lake 2-0. Kansas City thoroughly controlled the play in the first half, and Espinoza's first goal of the season opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Five minutes later, Bunbury added to KC's lead, as he headed a rebounded throw-in past Nick Rimando. Real Salt Lake went into the break playing very poorly, and attempted to regroup for the second half.

In the second half neither team could initially get an edge, and play was pretty wide open for the first 10 minutes. But in the 57th minute Espinoza went from the hero to potentially the goat as he was given a straight red card. His very clumsy and dangerous scissor tackle brought down Kyle Beckerman from behind, and the referee's call was an easy one. Following Espinoza's sending-off, RSL had more chances at goal, but Sporting held their line, did not concede any goals, and picked up a very valuable three points.
