Both managers have opted to field just about the strongest possible lineups in the 2011 Community Shield, taking not inconsiderable risks with key players on the Wembley turf. Manchester United, missing Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, play Danny Welbeck in his place, with Dimitar Berbatov somewhat unsurprisingly dropping to the bench. Wayne Rooney, as ever, will be pulling the strings.

Roberto Mancini's Manchester City will be going with a 4-4-2, although the pairing of Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli is somewhat less than inspiring when the firepower of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero is theoretically available to the Italian. Neither is actually able to start, however - Tevez is still on holiday, while Aguero has blister problems, joining Gael Clichy on the bench.
