He takes decisive action by also missing the ball, which seems faintly communist. Ashley Young mopping up can't do much of anything, and back back back the ball goes to the United defence for the team to start building again.

A fantastic flick by ersatz right back Chris Smalling launches another attack, this one lasting somewhat longer as red shirts probe and tease at the Manchester City defence. Then the ball gets to Michael Carrick in space, and he opts to chip the ball and two miles an hour in the vague direction of Joe Hart's goal. The City keeper has enough time to raise an eyebrow and suppress a chortle at the midfielder. I am not so lucky in my chortle-suppression.
Edin Dzeko and Anderson both get booked for getting tetchy with each other on the halfway line shortly after that. Said yellow cars will have no ramifications whatsoever.
