It’s not every day that fans at a baseball game decide to chase after a foul ball by diving into a garbage receptacle, but thanks to the Internet, when that does happen, as it did in the Tampa Bay Rays’ loss to the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, SportsGrid’s @bubbaprog is all over that. Okay, yeah: “Now that’s what happens when you take the Miller Lite Taste Greatness Moment a little too seriously!” isn’t quite “I don’t believe what I just saw!” But you try to come up with a semi-coherent call of fans scrapping while trying to retrieve a foul ball from a ballpark garbage bin.
Special praise needs to go to Rays sideline reporter Todd Kalas, too. It’s not every walking man with a microphone who would try to get to the bottom of a story like this, given how easy it would be to, ahem, refuse.
