The last time two teams played with that large a difference in their records was on Sept. 16, 2004, when the 95-50 Cardinals faced the 46-101 Diamondbacks. The Cardinals won 4-3 and clinched a playoff berth the next day by winning 7-0.

↵↵The Phillies are in almost the same spot; they can clinch at least a wild card if they win tonight and... the Cardinals lose. Plus ça change...
