On June 11, against the Diamondbacks, Javier Vazquez allowed seven runs in 3-2/3 innings, lifting his ERA to 7.09 after 13 starts. If anything was being written about him, it was that he was probably all out of bullets.

Since then, Vazquez’s velocity has risen, he’s posted a 5.6 K/BB, and with a complete game shutout of the Nationals on Friday, he’s lowered his ERA to 3.92, just a hair behind Zack Greinke.
