Marlins To Install Aquariums As Backstop In New Stadium

The Florida Marlins, soon to be the Miami Marlins, are set to move into a brand new stadium. This park will feature a pair of large aquariums full of fish that will be installed behind home plate.

And... GO! (Hint: Everything you are supposed to laugh at after the jump is in boldface.)

  • What if a baseball breaks the glass? Water they going to do?Seems a little fishy to me.
  • I have a query: um, how is this supposed to attract fans?
  • All these bells and whistles mean nothing if the Marlins tank every year.
  • The stadium’s nice, sure, but it won’t keep the Marlins from sinking to the bottom of the N.L. East.
  • Well, looks like this stadium will attract Florida baseball fans’ greenbacks. Top that, Rays!
  • Oh good. I can hardly wait for the Marlins to win another World Series only to liquidate their assets in the offseason.
  • The impact of this team has yet to be seen. Jeffrey Loria has really let this team flounder in recent years.
  • This sounds nice, sure, but everything sounds nice when it’s filtered through the Marlins’ PR machine.
  • Good to know that the Marlins are packed to the gills with money.
  • Loria should be worrying about the big issues instead of starting up another pet project.
  • Another costly and sophisticated feature? The Marlins really need to scale back their designs for this stadium.
  • I’ll betta hundred bucks that fans will quickly lose interest.
  • I suppose it will at least give the concession workers something to look at while they pebble their wares.
  • Fin.
