Three Down, Three On

Did you know that there was a name for a grand slam that’s hit with a team down by three in their last at-bat? It’s called an “ultimate grand slam,” and they’re extremely rare. Only 27 have been hit in MLB history. Decades can pass between them.

↵But Travis Hafner hit one in July. Brian Bogusevic hit one one in August. And Ryan Roberts hit one on Tuesday night. Three ultimate grand slams in three months. All we need now is a BETTER NAME FOR THEM. I propose whoopsiedoodles. Hey, it’d be an improvement, at least.
