Cardinals Vs. Astros, NL Wild Card Preview: Time, TV Schedule And More

St. Louis has already made an improbable comeback to tie Atlanta in the NL Wild Card race. Can the Cardinals push past the regular season?

The St. Louis Cardinals have clawed back to a tie with the Atlanta Braves for the NL Wild Card. Will the Cards be able to win the Wild Card race outright (or, at least, set up a one-game playoff) with a win over the moribund Houston Astros on Wednesday?

St. Louis will have veteran Chris Carpenter on the hill, while Houston counters with Brett Myers. Carpenter no longer has the form that made him a Cy Young winner in 2009, but he should be more than enough to shut down a woeful Astros lineup that is led by Carlos Lee in both batting average (.277) and homers (18).

Then again, Houston did squeak by the Cardinals on Monday.

Game date, time: 8:05 p.m. ET, Wednesday, September 29, 2011

Location: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas

TV channel: Fox Sports Midwest, Fox Sports Houston
