Big Game James Sets Complete Games Record!

You know how some people assume that “modern” baseball history began precisely in 1901, with the inaugural season of the American League? And they count records from that point forward?

↵Well, if we jump ahead 100 years and suggest that our modern history began with our new century, we’ve got a new record-holder in complete games.

↵

Monday afternoon, James Shields threw his 11th complete game of this season, which is the most since Randy Johnson tossed a dozen CG in 1999.

↵And everybody said the complete game was dying...
