There might not be a whole lot of NBA prospects when No. 5 Vanderbilt plays No. 12 Harvard, but there will be no shortage of brains. The two highly acclaimed academic universities, though, have also put together pretty solid basketball teams this year.

When No. 5 Vanderbilt takes on No. 12 Harvard, it will be a clash of some serious brain power.


The Commodores are coming off a huge win over Kentucky in the SEC Championship game. They’ve played a schedule that included nine games against ranked opponents, including three against Kentucky, which was ranked No. 1 at the time of all three meetings. Although they won just three of those games against ranked opponents, they did win their last two.
The Crimson will be playing in their first NCAA Tournament since 1946. They were able to avoid a one-game playoff to decide the winner of the Ivy League when Penn lost its season finale. They did finish the season on a 14-2 run and have enjoyed arguably the best year in the program’s history.
