This was supposed to be Ohio State’s year. The Buckeyes started out the season as one of the top teams in the country and pretty much stayed that way until the start of their Big Ten schedule. After going 13-5 during their conference schedule and losing to Michigan State the the tournament’s championship game, they now enter the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed. Clearly, facing No. 15-seed Loyola is not the end of the world, but it’s also not where they planned to be.

The Buckeyes have played a brutal schedule, facing 12 Top 25 teams. They’ve won their share, going 7-5.
In Loyola (Md.) they face a team that doesn’t really excel at anything. The Greyhounds won the MAAC Tournament without having to face regular-season champion Iona and lost their only game against a ranked opponent.
