The 2012 NCAA Tournament kicks off its Round of 64 on Thursday. In the day's second game, the No. 8 seed Kansas St. Wildcats are taking on the No. 9 seed Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The game is a regular battle through the first half, as the Golden Eagles have fought their way back after an early deficit but still trail. Heading into halftime, Kansas State is ahead by a score of 30-27.

K-State jumped out to an early lead and it looked early on as though this would be their game to lose. The Golden Eagles did a fair job of closing the gap in the middle of the first half, but an 11-2 run by the Wildcats put the game solidly back in their control.

With less than 5:00 left in the first half, Southern Miss tied things up with a three-pointer as the shot clock expired, then took their first lead of the game on two free throws off a blocking foul. This was the foul in question:

Their lead was short-lived, as the Wildcats immediately tied things up again, then went ahead, 27-25. Play was halted as Southern Miss forward Torye Pelham went down with an apparent ankle injury.

Sideline reporters from truTV followed up, saying that the ankle will be taped up at halftime and Pelham will return to the game.

Kansas State's Rodney McGruder is easily leading all scorers through the first half with 18 points.
