Pierce Hornung had an absolutely monster game inside for the Colorado State Rams, but the poor shooting by his teammates -- in addition to their frequent turnovers -- helped the Murray State Racers off to a win. CSU took a 24-23 lead into halftime, but Murray State forced turnovers and pushed the pace in the second half of a 58-41 win.
2012 NCAA Bracket, Murray State Vs. Colorado State Final Score: Racers Advance With 58-41 Win
Hornung had 12 points on 6-7 shooting to go along with a stunning 17 rebounds, seven of those offensive, before he fouled out in the final minutes. Unfortunately for the Rams, he was good for half of their rebounds and they allowed Murray State to grab 10 offensive boards. Murray State picked up a lot of transition points in the second half, off the back of 22 CSU turnovers.
Donte Poole led Murray State with 15 points as the Racers spread the scoring load around to everyone. They shot just 39 percent from the floor, but were able to pull away thanks to all of the extra possessions that they were gifted by Colorado State's turnovers.
